WHY DOES AEROPRESS® BREWED COFFEE TASTE SO GOOD?       

Alan Adler, Stanford University engineering lecturer and famous Aerobie® sports product inventor, was disappointed with the taste of home brewed coffee. He had tried various coffee makers. He reasoned that it must be possible to brew a good cup at home.

Alan carefully studied coffee brewing. He identified the ideal conditions for brewing the best possible cup of coffee. Once the ideal conditions were identified, he spent more than a year creating a coffee maker that brews coffee under the ideal conditions. The AeroPress is that coffee maker.

THE AEROPRESS BREWS UNDER THE IDEAL CONDITIONS

TIME             

Coffee gives up its rich flavors quickly. Extended brewing time results in a bitter acidic taste.

AeroPress brew time is about 30 seconds. A French press requires about 5 minutes of steep time. Gravity powered drip coffee makers take several minutes to drip.  

TEMPERATURE

Brewing coffee at 175˚ F (80˚ C) fully extracts rich coffee flavors without the bitterness and acidity of coffee brewed using boiling or near boiling water.

AeroPress brews at the ideal temperature. Most home brewing systems are powered by boiling the water.

GRIND

Using finely ground coffee is essential to rich, full-bodied flavor.

AeroPress uses finely ground coffee. Drip coffee makers that rely on gravity rather than pressing must use a coarser “drip” grind to avoid overflowing. French presses with their metal filters must use even coarser grind.

GRIT

Avoid grit in the cup. Grit not only tastes and feels bad but it continues to brew in the cup, further increasing bitterness and acidity.

AeroPress brew is grit free. French press coffee makers and other coffee makers with a metal or mesh filter pass grit through into the cup.
